Equine Wellness Support at GouldWood Meadows is a holistic healing program that harnesses the natural connection between humans and horses to promote emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Through guided sessions, participants engage in non-riding activities such as grooming, in-hand work, and mindfulness exercises with our horses, creating a safe space for self-reflection, emotional release, and personal growth. This unique form of therapy is particularly helpful for individuals experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety, and stress, offering them a nurturing environment for healing and self-discovery.
This method uses our personal experiences that we gain through guided interactions with horses. Our program is solely based on the ground. Working one on one with horses through different activities that include or can include leading, grooming, obstacles courses, equine related art work and or liberty work – working with horses in their natural state.
EWS is a practice that provides emotional support to individuals who are taking
charge of their own wellness. It is client focused and we work in equal
partnership.
Why Horses?
Horses are naturally intuitive, non-judgmental beings who respond honestly to human emotions and energy.
Unlike people, horses don't care about your diagnosis, your past mistakes, your job title, your age, or what you've been through. They meet you exactly where you are.
Because horses are prey animals, they are highly attuned to their environment and can often mirror emotional states, helping participants become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, boundaries, and behaviors in a way that feels natural and non-threatening.
For many individuals who have experienced trauma, talking about painful experiences can feel overwhelming. Horses offer an alternative pathway to healing—one built through experience, connection, presence, and trust.
